On October 29, 2024, C-Tech’s Chief Operating Officer, Chris, had the privilege of attending the start of the Vendée Globe in France, an experience that left him awestruck by the sheer scale and global support behind this iconic event.
Having previously watched from afar, witnessing it firsthand was a reminder of the incredible magnitude of this race, which has captured the attention of sailors and fans alike from around the world. 🌎⛵️
The Vendée Globe is one of the most demanding and prestigious solo, non-stop races around the world, covering 24,000 nautical miles of some of the most treacherous waters. While many of the Imoca 60s competing in this year’s race will be pushing to break the current record of 74 days — a record set by Armel Le Cléac’h in the 2016-17 race — there’s also a fierce competition for the coveted top positions. With 40 teams taking part, the race promises to be as grueling and unpredictable as ever, with each team battling not only the elements but also their mental and physical limits.
