Carbon Fibre Masts
C-Tech has custom-built over 4,500 carbon spars in the last 10 years. From dinghies to foiling sports boats and multihulls, we have worked with a range or projects including production runs.

C-Tech has the capability to do everything in-house from design, mandrel manufacture to full fit-out using our 5-axis CNC machine, custom 3D printed titanium/plastic fittings, design expertise, and manufacturing processes. Contact us with your yacht length, ID and rigging parameters. Laminates are adjusted for individual crew weights. Mast sections are available up to 26m.
EnquireFull websiteC-Tech mast sections are manufactured using a mandrel wrapped production system and the highest quality pre-preg materials. Custom designed laminates are made up of a blend of standard and high modulus carbon fibre to achieve bend characteristics. Mast sections are autoclave cured for an aerospace quality laminate consolidation. C-Tech has a range of mandrel sections to choose from to optimise weight and stiffness for any yacht from dinghies, foiling classes, small keelboats or multihulls. We are also able to custom-build mandrels in-house for special projects.
C-Tech has 4 standard sail track options. Additional detailing can be added to suit the rig. GLASS TRACK (10mm ID x 1.7mm wall) usually used on: Contender, Int. 14, 16ft skiff, 18ft skiff. CARBON TRACK (12mm ID x 2.7mm wall) taped in place especially at high load locations, usually used on: Sports boats, Trailer Yachts, Multihulls, Small Keelboats. HEAVIER BLACK PLASTIC TRACK (robust PVC track) currently out of stock. LIGHTWEIGHT WHITE PLASTIC TRACK (generally paired with a short lead in piece of the 10mm track) usually used on: Flying 11's, Cherubs, 3.7, 12ft Skiff, OK Dinghy.
C-Tech have designed a range of both standard and custom mast head fittings to meet customers needs for individual boat designs and classes.
Keelboat spreaders require more articulation at the inboard end (IBE) then dinghy spreaders, so many keelboat spreaders between about 35ft to 70ft will be attached using spreader bars. These can be built from printed titanium, alloy or carbon.
Fixed spreaders can be supplied mounted directly onto the mast for local deliveries. For overseas deliveries spreaders are mounted on a band, which can fit externally to the mast or fits on the sleeve between the two mast sections.
In some classes being able to adjust spreader angles and lengths has led to the development of the C-Tech Carbon Adjustable Spreaders. On the IBE the front of the spreader is attached to a pin and the aft end there is an adjustable threaded eye, by removing the aft pin and either screwing in or out the spreader angle will adjust up to 15 to 20 degrees in either direction (from the neutral position). At the OBE of the spreader we use a standard Selden (or Proctor) OBE which allows two wire positions to be selected as well the length of the spreader can be altered plus or minus 25mm from the neutral position.
Many yachts require a set of lower stays near the gooseneck to control or restrict lower mast bend. On yachts that use T-plates we will often fit an internal sleeve or reinforce the outside of the mast to compensate for the hole placed in the mast at a high load location. On the 16ft and 18ft Skiffs and classes like the Merlin Rocket and Shaw 7m we fit a custom made D1 (lowers) carbon fitting as this is glued to the mast and requires no holes in the mast, being on the front of the mast also gives clearance to the lowers stays.
C-Tech has a range of keelboat gooseneck options including a system that has a pivot pin offset aft of the mast which has the effect of easing outhaul when the boom is rotated outboard to help power-up the sail downwind.
C-Tech has a range of standard gooseneck moulds to take the following pin/knuckle assemblies. Riley RM682 pin (3/8”) Harken 12mm pin (H38755A) Custom alloy knuckle for higher loads
C-Tech uses the Riley RM682 yoke and pin as a standard fitting for dinghy goosenecks. We have a range of mouldings to suit each rig with different features.
C-Tech have designed various types of mast bases to suit different class types and designs. Female style mast bases, Tenon style base, Fibreglass Tenon (skiff classes), Nylon or acetal base disc with thrust washer (canoe), Rotating mast base and mast step allowing easy mast rotation and adjustable mast steps (M-class).
C-Tech can design and biuld components for rotating rigs.
