C-Tech provides the highest quality, prepreg aerodynamic produces available. With a radiused leading edge and a tapered trailing edge, aerofoil carbon tubes (also known as airfoil carbon tubes) are aerodynamic or hydrodynamic shapes. Ideal for wings, drones, fairings, foils, rudders and underwater appendages, spoilers or any other project that needs a lightweight aerodynamic shape.
If you've got an idea for an aerofoil carbon tube and know your specifications , choose your specs from the table below and send us a request for a quote. You can use the table to browse through internal diameters, outer diameters, wall thickness, price and weight. For any thicknesses and sizes not shown, get in touch for a custom quote.
Designed to make your composites corrosion resistant, UV protection and aesthetically pleasing, C-Tech provides finishes sustaining the long-term appearance of composite products.
Glossy, unidirectional (spiral wound effect), cloth (woven or twill-weave) effect.
Smooth, clear and glossy cloth or uni finish.
Sanded finish ready for painting or gluing, cloth or uni option.
Textured finish designed as a gluing surface. It can be used inside tubes to create a gluing surface in areas that are hard to sand. This finish also provides a good grip on tubes either cloth or uni.
Sanded and painted, giving a high gloss and the best UV protective coating and a high quality finish. We can offer any colour that is commercially available for spray painting.
Benefits of aerofoil carbon tubes
Please note that there is a minimum order value of $400 per export shipment.
Price will depend on laminate thickness and carbon fiber modulus or fiber type required. Price calculators are provided on some pages. If price information is not availableplease enquire about a tube to suit your specifications.
Our invoices can be paid by credit card (Visa/MasterCard - PDF form and complete CC details), by bank transfer, or by internet payment to a local bank (service available in some countries).
We export the majority of our tubes to destinations all around the world. We ship with Fedex, DHL and a variety of other freight companies to deliver customer orders at the best possible price.
Typical lead times for shipments:
Australia and the Pacific: 3-5 days
Rest of world: 7-10 days
We offer excellent lead times and competitive prices on shipments to Australia.
Delivery: C-Tech tube can be delivered world-wide. We use seafreight, airfreight and courier (DHL / FedEx; suitable for lengths under 3 metres).
The Standard terms for delivery of C-Tech Carbon fiber tube internationally are:
F.O.B (Free On Board) i.e. delivery to a freight carrier at Auckland International Airport (TNT, UPS or other Airfreight carrier)
DDU (Delivery, Duties/Sales Tax Unpaid) i.e. standard DHL / FedEx terms
Some but not all, most mandrels are commonly used in the marine industry, and the tube will match that profile.
Yes we can supply sectional 2D drawing files for most mandrel shapes (or ID of the tube) but not the OD of the tube which will change from tube to tube.
The ID shape is an exact representation of the mandrel size, and is true and accurate.
Like all non round male mandrel molded carbon tubes, the exact OD shape and size, depends on many factors eg wall thickness, specific laminate and fibre orientations, resin cure functions etc and can be hard to control to engineering tolerances. The size and shape is tightly controlled by the mandrel, and is the best surface for mounting end plugs or joining tubes to. The best way to know what the OD shape is like, is to measure the actual size after the tube has been made.
No, not with aerofoil tubes. The wall thickness we be substantially thinner at the leading and trailing edges due to resin and fibre migration during the cook. The flatter sides will get thicker. We can use special laminates and autoclave cures to resist this phenomenon. In terms of overall bending stiffness this doesn’t noticeable affect the tube.
