Wireline logging equipment has to stand up to the full spectrum of underground environments and overcome differential sticking, allowing you to log at extreme deviations, running smoothly without holdup, ensuring quality data and enhancing sample recovery.
C-Tech has worked closely with Petromac to develop composite parts that work with their systems.
Petromac required a non-metal guide component that could retain its structural integrity and low friction coefficient under high temperatures, high pressures and be subjected to abrasion through underground wells.
C-Tech worked with Petromac and carried out R&D on a number of specialised high temperature prepreg materials. The end solution has been integrated and bonded to parts with a high temperature epoxy glue.
Maximum depth = 9.7km (32,055ft)
Successful descents = 92%
Maximum wellbore temperature = 180°
Springs are used in wireline systems and are subjected to extreme deflection under high loads. The steel springs were yielding before reaching maximum deflection causing failure of the system.
C-Tech designed and built a composite spring using technology from other products. We were able to make the most of carbon fibre stiffness and S-Glass elongation. The challenge was integrating these with a high temperature resin system to stand up to the operating environment.
